We are delighted to announce that 13 of our pupils have been selected to have their poetry published in the Young Writers Monster Poetry anthology! 🎉
The competition challenged children to create their own imaginary monsters and bring them to life through imaginative poetry, inspiring creativity and a love of writing.
We are incredibly proud of all of our talented young writers for this fantastic achievement and cannot wait to see their work in print!

✝️ Year 3 Catholic Life Pledge ✝️
As part of our Catholic Life Pledge and service to our parish community, Year 3 visited Newcastle Cemetery today to take part in a litter pick and clean up.
The children showed such reverence, compassion and respect throughout the visit and made us incredibly proud. We also laid flowers with the permission of families and took time to say prayers for all those buried in the cemetery especially those who may no longer have loved ones able to visit them.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to live out our mission of serving others with kindness, dignity and love while caring for our local community.

Today Year 3 have been to visit Apedale as part of their students of the mines for local history week!
They had great fun in the mining museum learning all about what life was like when mining was a cultural way of life. We also had an additional workshop on their favourite topic this year – the Romans!
We even got to explore the mine underground and brought back some coal to keep as a memoire of the day!

🤓🧠⭐️ Come & Learn with Me ⭐️🧠🤓
Today, we were delighted to welcome our Year 3 parents into the classroom to take part in a Power Maths lesson alongside their children.
Together, we explored the stem sentence: 'The fractional parts add together to make the whole.' We investigated using concrete manipulatives including paper strips, part-whole models and whiteboards. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and teamwork as everyone got hands-on with their learning!
We also discussed the important role of the denominator and how it tells us how many equal parts a whole needs to be divided into and the numerator to show us how many parts were shaded.
Thank you to all the parents who joined us – your support makes a real difference!
Here are some of our favourite comments:
– 'We have enjoyed watching our son learn and engage so well with his peers. The teacher gives them lots of support and praise.'
-'I really enjoyed seeing how engaged the children are in their learning.'
-'It was great to see how the children learn. I learnt a lot and feel more confident supporting my child at home!'
– 'The children are very lucky to have such amazing, nurturing staff that care so much about their learning.'
