Operation Encompass

At St Mary’s, we are proud to be an Operation Encompass school.

Operation Encompass is a national initiative that aims to safeguard and support children and young people who are exposed to domestic abuse. It is a partnership between the police and schools to ensure that schools are informed, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.

This timely information allows us to provide immediate and tailored support to our pupils who may be affected by such incidents.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are the Key Adults in school for Operation Encompass. They have been trained to liaise with the police and other agencies to ensure that any child needing support receives it quickly and appropriately.
