Today, Miss Wilkes and Mrs Bettany were asked by Jingles the Elf 🎄🧝 to deliver special presents for Y1 to Y6! The children will use this magical delivery to inspire their writing this week about the temptation of Christmas and what might happen if they creep downstairs for a little peek… 👀✨
The children absolutely loved it and can not wait to look inside once our brilliant authors have published their final short stories! 📚🎁✨
A huge thank you to the PTFA for supporting our writing this week!

✝️Mass at Holy Trinity✝️
Today, our Year 6 pupils attended Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Newcastle. The intention of the Mass was to celebrate Mrs Maddon and her fantastic tenure at Christ the King Catholic Collegiate. It was a special occasion where our children joined together in prayer and thanksgiving for her dedication and service.
Father Paul shared a thoughtful homily with the children. He reminded us of the importance of being kind, being forgiving and speaking to God every day. He explained that when we live in this way, Jesus is always with us, guiding us and helping us to grow in faith.

WWII Experience 🪖💣🚨🛩️
Year 6 had an incredible day at Newcastle Brampton Museum, diving into the history of WWII and discovering its impact on the local community of Chesterton.
The children stepped into the shoes of evacuee Billy Brown, exploring his suitcase filled with clothing, a comic, and a treasured family photo. They also enjoyed traditional games once played in Scouts and Brownies groups, including hopscotch, hangman and pick-up sticks.
A visit to a wartime home gave them the chance to handle fascinating artefacts such as gas masks, ARP hats and even bomb shells. Suddenly, the air raid sirens sounded and the children quickly took shelter underground until the “all clear” was given. To keep their spirits up – just as children would have done during the war – they played bingo, learnt a song from the era, and even made their own toilet paper!
It was an incredibly immersive and memorable experience for everyone involved.

✝️ Year 6 Catholic Life Pledge ✝️
Today, Year 6 took part in their Catholic life pledge and served as stewards at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Newcastle. Their roles included counting attendance, handing out prayer books, serving on the piety stall, distributing collection plates and serving on the altar. They were very reverent and were praised for how helpful they were.

✨ Year 6 – Celebrating Our Young Journalists! ✨
For the past two weeks, Year 6 have been diving into the world of interviews in English. As part of their homework, each pupil interviewed someone special to them, gathering real stories and meaningful memories to inspire their writing.
Today, the children became budding future journalists, proudly publishing their work by inviting their interviewee into school to listen to their finished piece! It was a wonderful opportunity for the pupils to share their writing, build confidence and celebrate the people who inspire them most.
Well done, Year 6 – fantastic speaking, listening and writing skills on display! ✍️🎙️
