⛪️✨ Combined Schools’ Mass ✨⛪️
Today our Year 6 children had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Combined Schools’ Mass alongside children from across St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Multi-Academy Trust at St Gregory’s Catholic Church in Longton. 🙏
The Mass celebrated the life of St Francis of Assisi and reminded us of the importance of humility, kindness and compassion. Through his example we reflected on how we can follow in Jesus’ footsteps by showing love and care to those around us. ❤️
A lovely opportunity for our children to come together as one Catholic community in faith, prayer and reflection. 🕊️

This afternoon, Year 6 had a fantastic trip to Newcastle Library! The children were excited to explore the shelves and had the chance to share some of their favourite books with Terry, the librarian. From magical adventures to thrilling mysteries, there was plenty of book talk and enthusiasm all around!
Terry also shared some of the exciting events coming up at the library – lots to look forward to for our keen readers! He then treated the class to a reading of an extract from A World Full of Spooky Stories: Esteban and the Ghost – a perfect way to end a magical afternoon. To finish off the visit, the children were able to browse the plethora of books that the library has to offer and choose a book to bring home. 📖

🎭📚✨ National Poetry Day 2026 ✨📚🎭
This morning, we celebrated National Poetry Day with a fantastic whole-school assembly, and what a performance it was! 🌟
Each year group took to the stage to perform a poem they had been rehearsing during their Readers’ Theatre sessions. From wonderful expression and clear voices to brilliant actions and confident performances, our children absolutely brought the words to life! 🎤👏 Their fantastic oracy skills were on full display and we were so proud of every single performer. ❤️

Our Year 6 class had a fantastic time exploring Lyme Valley Park as part of their Geography unit this afternoon!
During the visit, the children studied the Lyme Brook, learning how it acts as a main tributary feeding into the River Trent. They also explored the surrounding environment – discovering the different types of wildlife that call the area home and identifying a variety of trees that line the brook 🌳🍂.
Our final activity was to survey the public's view of the park and how they use it.
It was a brilliant hands-on learning experience that really brought their classroom work to life!

This morning in Geography, we used fieldwork to identify different examples of land use in our local area. We stopped at various points throughout the walk to discuss how the land was used and whether this has changed over time. In groups, we took photos and made notes on the various land uses. These included: residential, retail, industrial, religious building, charity, financial, open space or leisure.

On Thursday, our Year 5/6 football team had a fantastic time competing against other local schools at Newcastle College! ⚽️💙
We couldn’t be prouder of the team. They showed brilliant determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout every single match.
Through wins, draws and losses, they walked off the pitch with smiles on their faces and continued to support and encourage one another. 🌟

✝️ Year 6 Catholic Life Pledge ✝️
As part of our Catholic Life Pledge and following our RE lesson on our responsibility as stewards to take care of our planet, Year 6 spent time today caring for our school environment by taking part in a litter pick across our school playground and field.
The children showed great care, responsibility and respect for our shared environment and worked together brilliantly to make our school grounds cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.
This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to put their learning about stewardship into action, recognising our responsibility to care for God’s creation and the world around us. 🌍💚
