🌟Year 3 Catholic Life Pledge – Learning Block One🌟
Year 3's first Catholic Life Pledge has centered around CAFOD's Family Fast Day 2025.
This is an initiative that reoccurs every harvest time and the aim is to stand in solidarity with our global family. The children swapped one of their main meals for a simple bowl of soup in order to think about and raise awareness for those throughout the world who regularly go without food. Put so beautifully by our own Archbishop Bernard: 'We are called to live more simply so that others can simply live.'

'Helping the poor is a matter of justice before a question of charity.' – Pope Leo XIV
Thank you children and families for all of your efforts!

This week, in English, we have been writing a non-chronological report and what better topic to write about than our wonderful school! Our target audience was prospective parents who are thinking of sending their children in September 2026 and would like to find out more about our school!

🎭✨ This morning, St Mary’s marked National Poetry Day with a fantastic whole-school assembly! Each year group took to the stage to perform a poem they had been during their drama slots and every single child delivered their piece with confidence and flair. Their hard work and brilliant oracy skills shone through!
The poems performed were:
❤️🧺 Year 1 – Little Red Riding Hood
🦉🐱 Year 2 – The Owl and the Pussycat
🌿🐞 Year 3 – Nature Trail
🐉✨ Year 4 – The Tale of Custard the Dragon
🎉🗣️ Year 5 – The Word Party
⚠️📜 Year 6 – A Cautionary Verse
A huge well done to all our pupils – what a wonderful celebration of poetry! 🎬🎭

In today's reading lesson, Year 3 have really enjoyed doing some dictionary work to find out what words mean relating to our text all about Stonehenge! We sang the alphabet song and learnt what is meant by 'alphabetical order' to help us to find the words quickly. Well done Year 3! #year3stm #readingstm … See MoreSee Less

Today in maths, Year 3 were introduced to hundreds numbers for the first time! The children used place value grids and base 10 equipment to explore how many hundreds, tens and ones are in a number. We also used a stem sentence to help us explain our thinking clearly. The children worked brilliantly and are beginning to grow in confidence with larger numbers. #mathsstm #year3stm … See MoreSee Less
