Competition- If you were an engineer what would you do?
This year the children at St Mary’s entered the Leaders awards competition, ‘If you were an engineer what would you do?’. The children designed solutions to every day problems and world wide issues including: reusable shopping bags that never rip, machines to clean up the oceans, dissolving packaging and a drone to deliver food to the people of Ukraine.
We were delighted to be invited to an awards ceremony and exhibition at Coventry University to celebrate Aysia-Marie’s achievement in being one of the year 2 winners for the west central region.
Well done to everybody who took part!

Our fantastic Year 5 class have successfully completed their DT unit in style! 👩🍳👨🍳
The children showed great teamwork and growing independence as they carefully chopped carrots, mushrooms and bacon before combining them with mince, chopped tomatoes, mixed herbs and beef stock to create a delicious bolognese. 🍝
As part of the process, we also explored important food safety skills – discussing how to avoid cross contamination when preparing ingredients and learning how to use knives safely and correctly while chopping.
We are so proud of their effort, enthusiasm, and the skills they’ve developed along the way – the classroom smelled amazing too!
