“Evidence shows that children start to form ideas about their future as they start primary school. By linking lessons in an age-appropriate way to different careers, training and skills, the programme will bring learning alive and inspire pupils about the world of work. It will also provide opportunities for pupils to meet employers and role models from a range of industries, helping to raise aspirations and link their learning to future skills, jobs and careers.”

Careers & Vocations Day 2022

We have had three wonderful guest speakers in school to tell us all about their career journeys: Father Marco, Julia Bridgewater MBE (NHS manager) and Rose Sedgwick (Veterinary surgeon). We also thought about the importance of money and saving!
Reception had a great day learning about different careers. We enjoyed being doctors, hairdressers, construction workers, artists, writers and teachers! We finished the day learning all about the vocation of a priest. #careersstm #rshestm #restm #eyfsstm … See MoreSee Less

As part of Career’s Day, Years 5 and 6 had a visit from a wonderful lady called Liz, who came to speak about Dougie Mac. She told the children all about the different jobs that the 450 lovely volunteers, who work at Dougie Mac, do to help the patients, such as: nurses, fundraisers, cooks, cleaners, caretakers and many more.
After the assembly, the children spent some time researching a career that they find interesting and created a mood board about that career.
