Year 1 have had a fantastic day at the Brampton Museum learning about toys from the past and present. We went on an adventure to find Major Glad and Major Dizzy who were William’s tin soldiers. During our visit, the children experienced the toy gallery and the parlour where they were able to play with toys from the past and even made their own toy from the present. A fun day was had by all. #year1stm #historystm … See MoreSee Less

In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders' Fields.
John McCrae

You will never guess who visited us in Year 1 today! None other than the Labour MP for Newcastle Under Lyme, Adam Jogee for Newcastle-under-Lyme . Adam was blown away by our letters and wanted to come into school to meet the children to talk about being an MP. He spoke about what inspired him to follow this vocation. The children asked thought-provoking questions to gain a better understanding of his childhood and his job as an MP. He loved their portraits and took the time to look at each one before leaving a personalised message for the children. We hope to see him at St Mary's again soon. #year1stm #historystm #britishvaluesstm … See MoreSee Less

I've just showed this to him out at a party.
Brilliant 👏 👏 xx
During today’s History lesson, Year 5 have been learning about different Greek philosophers and scholars. After learning about them, the children took part in discussions about which philosopher or scholar has made the most impact in today’s modern world. We used our ‘Talk Tactics’ such as instigate, challenge and build to take part in a fierce debate! #historystm #oracystm #year5stm … See MoreSee Less

🎬To celebrate Black History Month, Year 6 researched Floella Benjamin who is a famous author, presenter and grew up through the Windrush Scandal. After researching Floella's life and the Windrush Scandal, the children presented a live Newsround episode with a special guest star – Floella Benjamin herself! Check out our episode below.🎬
