At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, we are proud of our close and highly valued partnership with St John Fisher Catholic College, our Catholic feeder high school. Grounded in shared faith, high expectations and a commitment to the formation of the whole child, this partnership ensures that pupils experience a well-supported, purposeful and positive transition to secondary education.
Our children benefit from regular and meaningful contact with St John Fisher throughout their time at St Mary’s. Year 6 pupils visit St John Fisher for a dedicated transition day, giving them valuable opportunities to become familiar with the school environment, experience aspects of secondary school life and build confidence as they prepare for the next stage of their education.
Staff from St John Fisher regularly visit St Mary’s to work directly with our pupils, strengthening relationships and continuity of care. This includes the delivery of First Holy Communion and Confirmation retreat days, supporting pupils’ spiritual development and reinforcing our shared Catholic mission.
Leadership links further enhance the strength of this partnership. The Headteacher of St John Fisher, Mr Murray, visits St Mary’s at the end of each term, spending time in every class, developing positive relationships with pupils across the school. In turn, the Headteacher of St Mary’s. Mrs Mellor, is warmly welcomed to St John Fisher each term to join year group Masses and to visit former pupils, celebrating their continued progress and success.
