📣 Meet the New St Mary’s Leadership Team 📣

This year we are proud to introduce St Mary’s newly expanded Leadership Team!

At St Mary’s, we are passionate about Oracy so we asked all applicants to submit a video explaining why they would be the right choice for the role. The standard of applications was outstanding and we were truly impressed by the effort and enthusiasm shown by every child.

After the application stage, shortlisted candidates were interviewed by Mrs Mellor, who was blown away by the confidence and passion they showed. We are delighted to reveal our new Leadership Team:

Head Boys and Girls
🏆 Olivia
🏆 Maria
🏆 Chrisa
🏆 Toluwa

Deputy Head Boys and Girls
⭐ Scarlett
⭐ Milly
⭐ Jackson
⭐ Millie

A huge congratulations to all of our new leaders. We cannot wait to see the incredible things you will achieve this year.

Check out their brilliant application videos below!

🎭✨ This morning, St Mary’s marked National Poetry Day with a fantastic whole-school assembly! Each year group took to the stage to perform a poem they had been during their drama slots and every single child delivered their piece with confidence and flair. Their hard work and brilliant oracy skills shone through!

The poems performed were:
❤️🧺 Year 1 – Little Red Riding Hood
🦉🐱 Year 2 – The Owl and the Pussycat
🌿🐞 Year 3 – Nature Trail
🐉✨ Year 4 – The Tale of Custard the Dragon
🎉🗣️ Year 5 – The Word Party
⚠️📜 Year 6 – A Cautionary Verse

A huge well done to all our pupils – what a wonderful celebration of poetry! 🎬🎭

During Year 6’s field trip to Lyme Valley 🌿, the children captured photographs of the fascinating wildlife 🐦🦋 they encountered, as well as the tributary that feeds into our nearest river – the River Trent. Once they had collected their shots, they created their own Pic Collages 🎨🖼️, ready to analyse in next week’s geography lesson 🧐. 🌿🌊 Year 6 Geography Field Trip! 🌊🌿

Our Year 6 class had a fantastic time exploring Lyme Valley Park as part of their Geography unit this week!

During the visit, the children studied the Lyme Brook, learning how it acts as a main tributary feeding into the River Trent. They also explored the surrounding environment – discovering the different types of wildlife that call the area home 🐦 and identifying a variety of trees that line the brook 🌳🍂. Our final activity was to survey the public's view of the park and how they use it.

It was a brilliant hands-on learning experience that really brought their classroom work to life!
