Year 2 were lucky enough to have a special visit from Tom and Safi from Keele University Veterinary School. They told us all about their work as veterinary lecturers and helped us understand the basic needs of animals that are essential for their health and survival. They also showed us real X-rays of different animals and even brought in real animal skulls for us to look at and explore. The children then had a go at being vets themselves by practising how to listen to an animal’s heartbeat — they used stethoscopes to listen to each other’s heartbeats! Afterwards, the children were fascinated and asked the experts lots of brilliant questions about animals. Everyone really enjoyed the session and learned so much about what it’s like to be a vet. #year2stm #sciencestm #KeeleUniversity … See MoreSee Less

✏️🖍️ The Day the Crayons Quit 🖍️✏️
Before half term, each class focused on the text The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. Inspired by the book, the children wrote a letter from the perspective of an item they either overuse or underuse. Today in assembly, an author from each class shared their published piece. From tablets to skates, these personified items had truly had enough.
We were blown away by not only the amazing writing but also the fabulous storytelling – we were on the edge of our seats. A huge congratulations to our budding authors. We are so proud of you.
Check out their fantastic stories below!

Year 2 have had a great day exploring Peak Wildlife Park as a part of their Geography topic, Arctic Adventures. We found out lots of interesting facts about polar bears and Arctic Foxes. We then continued to find lots of different animals along our way!
