Dotty the Reading Dog
Some of our Year 1 children had a lovely afternoon meeting Karen and Dotty the reading dog. They were so happy reading to Dotty and talking about their books.
Roald Dahl Day
To celebrate Roald Dahl day this year, each class conducted a scientific investigation based on a Roald Dahl book. The children had lots of fun making lava lamps, fizzy colours and using their footprints to measure their height! Who says learning isn’t fun?
Reading on BBC Radio Stoke!
Some of our Year 6 children have represented St Mary’s Catholic Primary School on BBC Radio Stoke’s book club! The children selected one of their favourite books to read an extract from with some clues to help the audience. I wonder if you can guess which book they chose…? Don’t forget to log your child’s reading on Learning with Parents each night. There’s absolutely no expectation to upload a photo or audio clip, simply logging the reading is perfect but we have loved seeing the ones you’ve chosen to share! 🌟
For our older children, they can even get involved by logging their own reading on their tablet or device. A great way for them to take a little more ownership of their reading! 📱📚

Today, our KS2 Reading Ambassadors had a very exciting visit to Newcastle Library! They met with The Reading Agency to share their thoughts and ideas about next year’s Summer Reading Challenge. 💻📖
Afterwards, the children had the chance to explore the library and choose a book to take home! 📚
We were also absolutely thrilled to hear Terry say that when he thinks of a school that truly loves reading, St Mary’s always comes to mind! What an honour and a wonderful reflection of the reading culture we are so proud of. ❤️🌟
